Form of Vedic poetry

Vedas are the basic source of Indian knowledge. Veda is also called Apaurusheya. The purpose of Veda is to achieve good and avoid evil. Etymology of the word Veda - 'Vedokhilandharmamoolam' From ancient times till today, the Hindu caste has equal faith in the Vedas. Vedas are the most ancient and sacred texts of the Hindu community. It is neither a single religious book like the Quran nor a mere collection of words of many great men like the Bible. That is complete literature. The old Acharyas have designated the texts of that era with the word 'Veda'. There are four Vedas – Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda and Atharvaveda. There are four Samhita among these: Yajurveda Samhita, Samaveda Samhita and Atharvaveda-Samhita, which are called Samhita for compilation or collection. Mantras from different Vedas are compiled in each Samhita.

The etymology of the word 'Veda' has been widely exposed in texts ranging from Samhitas to Upanishads, Ayurveda, Natyashastra, Kosh, Kalpa and Manusmriti etc. The word Veda is made up of four roots – Vid Gyan, Vid Satyam, Vidalru-Labhe. And vid-vicharane. In all the above texts the word Veda has been used in the sense of mantra code. Swami Dayanand Saraswati of Rigvedabhashyabhumika has explained the word Veda as follows; “Vidanti Jananti Vidyante Bhavanti Vindatti or Vindante, Labhante, Vindanti Vicharayanti Sarve Manushaah Satyavidyaam Yaiyashu and Vidyaanscha Bhaavanti Te Vedaah. That is, from which all human beings know the truth, or acquire it, or think about it, or become scholars, or in which they are inclined to attain the truth, these are the Vedas. ‘Veda is divine knowledge’ For proper knowledge of Vedic literature, it is necessary to know the meaning of the word ‘Veda’. Every word in the vast storehouse of Sanskrit literature has its own meaning. Every word is relative. Father is called ‘Janak’ because he is the one who gives birth. The word 'Janak' is derived from the root 'Jani'. Similarly, Janak is called 'father' because he is the protector and nurturer. For protection, “Pita” is derived from the root “Pa”. Therefore, we can neither address brother nor uncle, uncle etc. with the word father. All the words of Sanskrit language are meaningful like this. The scripture that proves the meaning of these words is grammar. All the languages of the world have their own grammar. Words are derived from grammar and on the basis of etymology we can know the classical meaning of any word. The grammar-based classical meaning of the word Veda is “knowledge”, because the word ‘Veda’ is derived from the root Vid meaning knowledge. The word ‘knowledge’ has a broader meaning. History is also a knowledge, Geography is also a knowledge and Mathematics is also a knowledge. The word ‘Veda’ does not mean knowledge of subjects like history, geography, mathematics etc., although (contextually) by researching the Vedic literature, we may get information about history, It is a different matter if discussions of geography and mathematics are found in the Vedas. By saying Veda we mean that divine knowledge. According to the tradition of Hindu religion, which was first discovered by the sages and maharishis or through which they had the encounter with God. Therefore, it became clear that the knowledge seen by the ascetic sages and great sages is the intended knowledge of the word 'Veda'.
